memories — fragmentary, flawed, idealized.
»memories of japan« was an attempt to reconstruct some of the most vivid memories — those of wall tiles, concrete and occasional dashes of color — from a trip to japan a while back.
just like memories tend to be, the resulting images are far from realistic depictions of what we saw. they are much rather incomplete and idealized versions of what we think we must have experienced.
